Long ago, during a time of gladiators and ancient coliseums, cats were often used by humans as fighters. Whether these felines sat in the lap of luxury with their owners as "pets" or used as "tools" in brutal fights for personal amusement was often left to chance but for many, the life of a coliseum cat was harsh. Competitions were held, often on a daily bases, to determine which human had the strongest felid. These "shows of strength" were often fights to the death, not to be called off until one owner's feline won by taking the life of the other. At first, these matches were simply for sport and bragging rights, but feline fighting tournaments steadily grew in popularity and crowds began to gather. Eventually, people started placing bets on who's cat would win and turned the competitions into a valuable source of precious gold coins. That was, until one day...
Finally, a group of five felines broke free from the coliseums. They escaped into the surrounding lands only stopping when they determined they were safe from recapture by the humans. Eventually, the news spread of the five's escape and even more cats broke free of their prisons to join the original escapees. Over time, five "empires" were formed from felines who vowed to fight against the humans and never again step foot in a coliseum.
Soon the humans began to train cats to capture the Empire cats that have escaped from their clutches: Bounty Hunters.
